Orchard Beach in the Bronx (Long Island Sound).
The water was the perfect temperature; the sand was clean, and it wasn't too crowded close to the ends where radios aren't allowed. Tidal pools contained baby crabs of various kinds (including horseshoe crabs) and baby fish which were great. The thousands upon thousands of mud snails are a little gross, but that's what water shoes are for. A definite repeat day excursion!

Wonderful! Though we still think "Bronx beach" sounds like an oxymoron.
